When a family learns that their loved one has been seriously injured in a car accident, they may believe that the situation could not be worse. Unfortunately, many drivers involved in car accidents do not remain on the scene of the crash, which can make the circumstances even more difficult. Though a driver may think punishment may be avoided by leaving the scene, the incident is only made worse for everyone involved.

A serious accident involving a car and a pedestrian recently took place in Indiana. It was reported that a 40-year-old man was attempting to cross a street when he was hit by a vehicle. The impact caused the man to be thrown into the air. It was reported that the driver of the vehicle stopped and exited the vehicle momentarily before re-entering the vehicle and leaving the scene.

The incident caused the pedestrian to be severely injured, and he is currently in intensive care. Authorities are currently looking for what they believe to be a blue mid-size vehicle. The vehicle likely has damage to the front and passenger side due to the impact. Police are asking that the driver involved come forward.

Car accidents in which drivers leave the scene can create complications for the investigation as well as for injured parties. When a person leaves an accident site, an injured individual may not be able to receive medical attention as quickly as possible. When the driver involved in this Indiana incident is located, the seriously injured pedestrian may wish to file a personal injury claim in order to pursue compensation for medical bills and other resulting damages.
