INDIANA HIT-AND-RUN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE

It is important that all motorists understand that each individual on the roadway has a destination that he or she would like to reach. If a driver is careless, the likelihood of a car or motorcycle accident taking place could increase. Though a serious accident may be shocking to a driver, the law requires that he or she remain on the scene. A hit-and-run could cause considerable complications, and such factors could play a role in subsequent legal proceedings.

A recent accident in Indiana was determined to have been a hit-and-run involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. Authorities initially thought the accident was due to the motorcyclist losing control, but other evidence apparently revealed that a second vehicle was involved. The second vehicle traveled into the path of the motorcycle, and the two vehicles collided.

The motorcyclist was declared dead on the site of the accident. It is unclear whether the driver of the other vehicle suffered injuries as that individual did not remain on the scene and had not been located at the time of the report. Authorities are currently looking for an SUV with damage to the rear.

Because the motorcycle accident resulted in the death of an individual, it is likely that the driver of the other vehicle will face criminal charges when he or she is apprehended by police. Regardless, the family of the victim may have reason to pursue legal action of their own. Filing a wrongful death claim may allow them to seek monetary compensation for damages permitted under Indiana law.
