POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVING ACCIDENT LEADS TO INDIANA DEATH

Alcohol and driving do not mix. This lesson is one that individuals begin hearing at a young age and continue to hear as they get older. Unfortunately, not all individuals heed this lesson, but get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol. Too often a drunk driving accident is the result of such actions, and individuals can be seriously or fatally injured as a result.

It was recently reported that an accident in Indiana resulted in such injuries. Reports indicated that a driver was exiting from Interstate 65 when he failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled into the path of an oncoming truck. The truck collided with the man’s vehicle, which was carrying the driver, an adult passenger and one child passenger. The driver of the truck was apparently the only occupant in the truck.

The adult passenger in the first vehicle suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The car driver and child passenger were both airlifted from the accident site and considered to be in critical condition. The driver of the truck suffered only minor injuries. At the time of this report, authorities believed that alcohol consumption on the part of the car driver may have been a factor in the crash.

Because the drunk driving accident resulted in the death of an individual, the victim’s family may wish to consider their legal options. By filing a wrongful death claim against the driver deemed at fault, the family may be able to seek compensation for their loss and other damages. Information on the process for filing civil claims in Indiana may help interested parties determine whether it is the right step for them.
