Unfortunately, it is impossible to control the behavior of other drivers on the road. While you can do everything you can to be a safe driver, another person can choose be reckless. It may be difficult to prevent an accident when another driver is not following traffic laws, but it is important to know that you can take action after the fact to hold that driver accountable.

Some local drivers may be considering their options after becoming caught up in a serious accident on Indianapolis’ Eastside over the weekend. According to witnesses, a Cadillac was speeding when it hit another motorist. After the first collision, the Cadillac hit a median and was launched into the air, eventually striking another car. Two other vehicles also became involved.

A total of eight people were injured in the car accident, and seven of them needed hospital treatment. The driver of the Cadillac agreed to a blood test. Officials will likely test for alcohol or other intoxicants that may have been in his system at the time of the crash.

Being injured in a serious accident like this one can be a frightening experience. Many people are not sure what to do in the aftermath. While the most important thing is to seek treatment immediately for any injuries sustained, considering your legal options may also be worthwhile.

A serious car accident can lead to financial challenges that are not easily overcome. An ambulance ride alone can cost hundreds of dollars, but add to that medical bills and rehabilitation costs, and anyone would be overwhelmed. Fortunately, car accident victims have the right to seek compensation from a negligent driver. If a driver was intoxicated, speeding or otherwise negligent when the accident occurred, you may have a case. Talking to an attorney is a good way to assess your situation and determine the best approach.
